"We are in discussion with the cities and locations that have shown interest in organizing the Eurovision Song Contest 2011," German broadcaster NDR said this week. Berlin, Hamburg, Hannover, Cologne, Dusseldorf and Gelsenkirchen are the six candidate host cities for organizing the festival in which Lena Meyer-Landrut will defend her title for Germany next year. "A decision will be taken in late August after the summer holidays."
The O2 World Arena in Berlin, the O2 World Arena in Hamburg, the TUI Arena in Hannover and the Lanxess Arena in Cologne all offer 14.000 to 20.000 places. The cities of Gelsenkirchen and Dusseldorf proposed their indoor football stadiums. The Veltins Arena of Schalke 04 in Gelsenkirchen and the Esprit Arena of Fortuna Dusseldorf can welcome more than 50.000 spectators each. | |
