The announcement of the Belgian candidate for the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 is nearing. Most probably this afternoon, VRT will announce its plans for Oslo at an extra press conference. The key question: is Natalia Druyts - second in Eurosong 2004 with the song Higher Than The Sun -going Oslo?
In the autumn of 2005, in preparation for Eurosong 2006, the Radio 2 program De Grote Beer organized a referendum among its listeners. Natalia was elected by the listeners to represent Belgium at the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 in Athens. This year, in preparation for the second edition of the Mia Awards, the tv show De Rode Loper also wondered who should represent Belgium in the next Eurovision Song Contest. Again - just like in several other polls - Natalia was chosen.
Earlier this year Natalia's manager Bob Savenberg stated that his singer would never participate in Eurosong again. However, at that time Flanders was not yet aware that the VRT preselections in the form of the Eurosong concept would be dropped. The biggest stumbling block for Natalia disappeared. Beginning November Natalia expressed her interest in representing Belgium in the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 for the first time.
